What you think could be the maximum phone bill? It’s $15 quadrillion for one woman!

There are big phone bills, huge phone bills and insane phone bills. And a lot us have possibly faced one of those, at least once every few years. But check this out; Solenne San Jose, a woman from the Bordeaux region of France, received an utterly insane one, which gave her the shock of her life.
After an early termination of her contract with the phone company Bouygues Telecom, San Jose was told that she would have to pay a cancellation fee and that the exact amount would be sent in a final bill to her residence. The bill she received was for a mind-blowing €11,721,000,000,000,000, which works out to around $15 quadrillion!!!! That amount works out to more than 200 times the GDP of France, and would be enough to wipe out the EU debt crisis multiple times over!! Hell, it would probably make the entire world debt-free!
As you may have guessed by now, this unbelievable amount was generated due to an error by the carrier, and after some frantic phone calls by San Jose, the company finally conceded that that the bill should actually add up to €117.21. The carrier also gave a statement that the mix-up resulted due to a printing error.
Phewww!!! If you have set up an auto-debit with your bank or on your credit card for your phone bill payments, you better think twice.

This morning, we reported that Samsung Mobile’s CEO himself, Mr. JK Shin, has announced the arrival of the newest member of the Galaxy family – the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.
The 4-inch phone will be officially revealed tomorrow, October 11, but we can provide you with the Galaxy S3 Mini’s specs and features right now, courtesy of the German tech blog Mobile Geeks.
The little brother of the Galaxy S3 will feature a 4-inch AMOLED display with WVGA resolution (800 x 480). On the inside, the Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190 will be powered by a dual-core STE U8420 chip presumably clocked at 1GHz. The phone will also feature the standard (these days) 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD with up to 32GB.
The Galaxy S3 Mini features a 5MP rear camera, with autofocus and LED flash, and a front facing VGA camera. The battery will supposedly be a 1500mAh model.
The folks at Mobile Geeks claim that the information above, while not official, is highly reliable and verified from several sources.

In terms of connectivity, the S3 Mini will support HSPA 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100 and EDGE / GPRS 850/900/1800/1900. The device will also feature Bluetooth 4, WiFi a/b/g/n, DLNA, and NFC.
Here’s a comparison between the S3 Mini and its older sibling:

You can see that the Galaxy S3 Mini closely resembles the S3, but it does have several distinctive features. The corners of the devices are more rounded, the home button is slightly redesigned. And, unless the leaked press image is mirrored, it seems that the front camera and the proximity sensor have been relocated on the left side of the device.
In terms of software, the Galaxy S3 Mini will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
We expect Samsung to officially launch the Galaxy S3 Mini tomorrow. At that point, we will be able to provide information on the price and availability of the device.

Android 4.2 spotted: Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, Motorola RAZR Nexus and Motorola Nexus tablet

(Source: androidauthority.com)
Word on the street is that Google will announce a new incremental Android update when unveiling this year’s new Nexus-branded handsetsAndroid 4.2, which is apparently still going to be called Jelly Bean. And it looks like the new software version has already been spotted in server logs by Android Police.
These are probably Googlers that are testing Android 4.2 on various mobile devices including the Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus:
  • Linux; Android 4.2; Nexus 7 Build/JOO92B
  • Linux; Android 4.2; Nexus 7 Build/JOP02B
  • Linux; U; Android 4.2; en-us; Galaxy Nexus Build/JOP04C
  • Linux; Android 4.2; Galaxy Nexus Build/JOO92B
  • Linux; Android 4.2; Galaxy Nexus Build/JOP04
As you can see, the build number for each device stats with the letter “J,” which suggests that Android 4.2 is still going to be called Jelly Bean:
As you may know, Google’s OS naming scheme corresponds to sequential letters of the alphabet, Jelly Bean being “J.” You may also know that the first letter in Nexus device OS build numbers share that letter. When the version number of Android changes as part of a major release, so does the letter. But here, we’re seeing it hasn’t, suggesting that Android 4.2 is most likely a pretty incremental update. Might that change by the time it becomes official? It’s certainly possible, but given how close we are to a likely launch, we wouldn’t count on it.
But the publication has also spotted a couple of new devices that run Android 4.2, and Motorola apparently makes them both:
  • Linux; Android 4.2; occam Build/JOO92B
  • Linux; Android 4.2; occam Build/JOP04B
  • Linux; Android 4.2; occam Build/JOP04C
  • Linux; U; Android 4.2; en-us; occam Build/JOP03B
  • Linux; U; Android 4.2; en-gb; occam Build/JOP03B
  • Linux; U; Android 4.2; en-us; occam Build/JOP04
  • Linux; Android 4.2; manta Build/JOP04C
  • Linux; Android 4.2; manta Build/JOP03
  • Linux; Android 4.2; manta Build/JOP05
One is a smartphone codenamed Occam, which is a hint at the RAZR family of phones – Occam’s Razor. What is Occam’s Razor? Here’s what Wikipedia says:
It is a principle stating that among competing hypotheses, the one which makes the fewest assumptions should be selected
According to Occam’s Razor, it makes sense to assume that the Occam is actually a Motorola RAZR handset. But will it be a RAZR Nexus handset or are we looking at one of the recently launched RAZRs? It certainly makes sense to see Motorola develop Nexus devices, considering that Google is ready to let multiple Android device maker jump on the Nexus program bandwagon, not to mention that Motorola is, after all, a Google subsidiary.
The other is a tablet, codenamed Manta, and it could be a “new Motorola Nexus tablet,” although that’s also just speculation for now:
Given that the Nexus 7′s name is “grouper,” and only Motorola devices have previously been named after rays [the Xoom’s codename was Stingray and Wingray, one for Verizon’s edition and one for the Wi-Fi version], it seems very possible we’re looking at a new Motorola Nexus tablet. However, the other possibility is that it’s simply a larger Nexus tablet, just not made by Motorola. The logic for the alternative is that the XOOM was a large device, and that perhaps Manta simply means another big tablet. Nexus 10, anybody?
Android Police makes some clever connections based on what is known of Google’s way of doing things, but nothing is official until Google sings. What’s clear though is that the next Android iteration is Android 4.2, and should come in the coming weeks. Anyone excited?

How to Flash (or Unbrick) Samsung Galaxy S Plus (i9001) using Odin

Difficulty Rating: Moderate / Hard

Chapters:
1. Introduction
2. Software Requirements
3. Getting in Download mode

4. Using Odin

CHAPTER 1. Introduction

The reason that I wrote this tutorial is because my phone got bricked.
I used Samsung Kies software to update the firmware but it got stuck and I had to disconnect my phone from the PC.
So it got corrupted.. And the horrible “Black Screen of Death” showed.

BSOD

This screen usually means that your phone is bricked or unable to boot.
The worst thing about this BSOD is that you are unable to get in recovery mode, which makes things allot harder.

You can read this tutorial if your phone is bricked, but also if you want to flash a new rom to your Samsung Galaxy S Plus.
The only difference is that when you got a bricked phone its way trickier to get in Download mode.

CHAPTER 2. Software Requirements

To successfully flash your phone you need the following things:

Samsung Galaxy S Plus ROMS

Download I9001XXKQE ROM (Recommended)

– Android 2.3.6
– Branded: No
– Available Regions: Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, UK
– Available languages: de, en, es, fr, hu, it, nl, pt, cs, da, el, fi, no, pl, sl, sv, tr
– WiFi finally fixed for everyone

Download I9001XXKQB ROM

– Android 2.3.6
– Branded: No
– Available Regions: Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, UK
– Available languages: de, en, es, fr, hu, it, nl, pt, cs, da, el, fi, no, pl, sl, sv, tr
– First Value Pack rom, includes the new features, but has WiFi bug

Odin Multi Downloader 4.43
Download Odin Multi Downloader 4.43

Odin Multi Downloader is needed to download the ROM to your phone.
This application can download files to your phone even if your phone doesn’t boot properly.

OPS FileDownload AriesVE.ops

This 1kb file is very important, it tells Odin in what order to flash the phone.
Without this file you can’t do anything.

CHAPTER 3. Getting in Download Mode

If your Samsung Galaxy S Plus is (partially) bricked and you have BSOD:1. Unplug your phone if its connected to your PC
2. Hold Vol UP + Vol Down + Power, the screen will flash black
3. Continue holding down all 3 buttons, you will see the BSOD screen again, continue holding all 3 buttons, the screen will flash black again
4. Release the power button only. This will put you into Download Mode
Don’t expect it to work the first time you try it. If it keeps failing try the alternative:

1. Start Odin Multi Downloader
2. Connect your phone (which is in BSOD) to the PC
3. Wait till Windows finished installing drivers and Odin recognized your phone
4. Hold Vol Down + Home + Power, once the black screen flashes, release the Power button. This will put you into Download Mode

If you just want to flash a new ROM to your Samsung Galaxy S Plus:1. Turn off your phone
2. Hold Vol Down + Home + Power, This will put you in Download Mode

CHAPTER 4. Using Odin1. Start Odin Multi Downloader 4.43
2. Click the “OPS” button and choose the AriesVE.ops file

Select OPS file

3. Check the “One Package” box and click on the “One Package” button > Choose the ROM

Load the ROM

4. As you see, it will automatically check if the MD5 Checksum is correct.
5. Connect your phone (which is in Download Mode) to your PC, Odin will automatically recognize the phone. If it doesn’t, download Samsung Android USB Drivers

Everything loaded, ready to flash6. The last step is clicking the “Start” button. I’m not showing this in my tutorial because I do not want to reinstall my phone at the moment.
The process will take from 8 to 60 minutes tops. (this varies allot, I have an average of 10 minutes) If it’s done, your phone is successfully reinstalled with a new ROM!7. Now you will have to configure your whole phone just like you did when you first got it. Enjoy your unbricked phone / new ROM

Don’t forget to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S Plus!
